INBOUND

The Medical Elective and Short Training are meant to give additional clinical experience and training to qualified applicants who are in the period of Elective or Short-term Training rotation according to their university syllabus.

Training is conducted on an individual basis for five days a week.

Applicants take part in daily departmental activities:

  • supervised ward rounds
  • bedside instruction
  • OPD sessions
  • seminars and conferences

Observation of most professional activities is also included.

***Practical hands-on training is prohibited due to the Thai Medical Board's rules and regulations.***

Qualifications

Undergraduate Applicants

  • Must hold communicative level of English (for non-native speakers)
  • Must be a senior medical student with clinical experience at the time of their elective period

Postgraduate Applicants

  • Must hold communicative level of English (for non-native speakers)
  • Must be a resident, fellow, or physician at the time of their Training period

Tuition fee is waived for international students from MURA Partners under MoU, IFMSA networks, and Asia-Uninet networks.

How to Pay Tuition Fee

Upon arriving to the Ramathibodi campus on the first day of your rotation or program, please

1.Prepare and print your acceptance letter.

2.Present your acceptance letter at the Division of Finance at the “Receipt” counter. The Division of Finance is located on the 3rd floor, Lecture Hall building (open hours are from Monday to Friday, 08.30 am – 04.15 pm).

3.Pay tuition fee and, if applicable, dormitory fees. Payment is accepted via credit card (Visa, Mastercard) and Thai Baht currency in cash.

4.After collecting the receipt from the Division of Finance, please come to the International Relations Section Office on the 6th floor, Lecture Hall building (elevator up to 5th floor, and go up the stairs), to get an official confirmation stamp on the receipt.

Choice of Electives & Short-term Trainings

Elective duration must be at least 2 weeks long in each department or division.

One or more departments and divisions can be chosen for electives. For example, if an applicant desires to take two electives consecutively, they will spend a minimum total of four weeks in the Faculty of Medicine.

Each elective program round opens on every first and third Monday of each month, except throughout April. Specific exceptions are made for Emergency Medicine programs.

Required Documents

  1. Recent passport-sized photo
  2. Letter of Recommendation/Endorsement from your school
  3. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  4. Covering Letter indicating your expectation of an elective
  5. English Proficiency Score (English native speakers and Thai students don’t have to submit for this)
  6. Copy of Thai Identity card or Passport


After having been accepted, the applicant will recieve an acceptance letter and needs to send the required documents below:

  1. Evidence of health/ Medical insurance (in case of having been accepted)
  2. Copy of Education Visa (in case of having been accepted)
  3. Immunization Record form (in case of having been accepted)
  4. Non-Disclosure Agreement (in case of having been accepted)
  5. Covid-19 Antigen Test Kit Home use (ATK) in the morning of your Elective's first day (result must be sent at least 1 hour before appointment time)
